Our practice has three principles that make us unique, and that we believe give you the best possible support during your pregnancy. <\/p>\n

A good pregnancy is one where you hold the reins. Our role is to help you make those choices in the best possible way. We do this by giving you the information you need, and by offering alternative options whenever you face a decision. We are always open to questions that fall outside the standard guidelines.<\/p>

It also means we decide together with you what your care looks like, adapting it to your needs. To fit your rhythm, we offer morning, afternoon and evening consultation hours and do home visits when needed. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Personal and committed<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We make sure we have enough calm, space and attention for you. One way we do this is by deliberately limiting the number of mothers we support to a maximum of 14 expectant mothers per month. This allows us to take more time for you, and leaves us more headspace to think about your specific situation. Why exactly 14? Because personal care does not scale: this way we know who you are, how your pregnancy is going and what matters to you. With us, you are never just a number.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The good news is that our personal approach directly benefits you! Research (Tijdschrift van Verloskundigen, 2008<\/a>) shows that practices with fewer midwives achieve better outcomes for the women in their care. Women receiving midwifery care in a practice with 1 or 2 midwives give birth at home more often. They are also referred less often for complications compared with larger practices, and there is less need for pain relief, caesarean sections or episiotomies. Women who see the same midwife more often turn out to have better births and to be more satisfied with their midwifery care.\u00a0<\/p>

A broad perspective<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We look at you with a broad, holistic view. Because (to give some examples) your diet, your habits, how you are feeling or what kind of people you have around you, all affect how you are doing and therefore how your baby is doing. <\/span><\/p>\n

We take a positive view of your body and what you are capable of. As a result, we are less quick to perform medical interventions when we see it can also be done without. Of course, whenever medically necessary, we will always do what is needed. It also means we have studied what nature has to offer \u2014 for example, we know which natural nutrients are good for your body.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Because we want to support you well in all these areas, we choose to keep developing ourselves and keep learning. We take additional training, including outside pure midwifery \u2014 think of further education in ultrasound and coaching.
